deCOMPOSE Reader Poll

The subtitle of this blog is Faith, Culture, Composition. That covers a lot of ground, I know. And while I give myself the freedom to roam subject-wise, I tend to gravitate to the same general topics. Anyway, I’m interested in learning a little more about the primary subjects that bring readers here. Would you take a minute to participate in my poll? If you could narrow down the subjects that most interest you, the subjects that bring you back to this blog, what would they be? You can make up to three choices, as well as provide “other” answers. Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

Really wanted to pick more than three, lol. I already like this blog a lot. 🙂

I’m having trouble tagging a specific category. Rather, it seems to me what I like about your blog, Mike, is your ability to ask questions I wouldn’t think about asking, nine times out of ten. So what I would like to see doesn’t always play into it. It’s more about what you bring to it, I think, no matter the topic. If it is of interest to you, then I think that’s what you should blog about. It appears most often it tends to be interesting to a lot of other people as well, and I’ve often found myself thinking, “Hum, good question!” And the fact I probably wouldn’t have thought to ask it is exactly what makes this blog interesting.

So I guess this poll is a bit like telling someone what to get me for Christmas. lol.

It was hard to choose, because what draws me into your conversations is usually the controversy. 🙂 (No matter the topic)

I selected three. But honestly, I’d say it’s deeper than that. Personally, I’m just interested in what you have to say on a variety of topics. You write well, and you think things through. That’s reason enough for me to keep coming back.

Mike, I know my answer is a bit of a cop out. The thing is, I have other sources for most of these topics. In fact I write on many of them myself. So I don’t come to your blog to get information as much as I do to get your ideas about these things. You are a unique, thoughtful person, and you speak your mind. Whether I agree or disagree I generally am pushed to think more deeply by what you say.

My least favorite posts are interviews, because I come to see what you have to say. Unless the interviewee is also some one I particularly want to hear from or who I know, then I generally don’t stick around.

In giving my third answer — “Other: Your ideas” — I could clarify. I prefer to read your ideas about faith or writing (whether that’s craft, business, trends, ABA, Christian fiction, all or any of it) over politics, movies, etc.

    Becky

The most startling thing about the results, thus far, is how many people read this site for Speculative Genres. Very interesting.
