I think you're right, Elaina. CNN's ratings bump was probably due, in part, to a migration from some Fox viewers. Being ideologically conservative obviously does not stop one from rubber-necking at cultural car wrecks. Besides, news junkies know where they can find candy. To me, it's a positive that Fox did not cancel all "regularly scheduled programming" to go all Jackson. I don't know if that was a "principled" decision on Fox's part, or if their temporary ratings slide would have caused them to do things differently. But not turning tabloid is, in my book, respectable. Thanks for your comments!

I'm pretty sure their dip in ratings means that FNC viewers were turning off Fox and watching CNN because people DID want to see MJ "news." Fox covered the story but not as obsessively and constantly as did the other networks.

I watched Fox so I could hear what North Korea, my fabulous president and the awesome democrats were up to. I also wanted to know what the Marines were up to in Afghanistan. Call me crazy. The FNC audience may be more conservative ideologically. However comma that apparently did not stop them from going elsewhere to get all MJ, all the time.
