This morning, my best friend and I are off to celebrate a rather remarkable feat. You see, Lisa and I have been married thirty years!
I’m not sure how anyone can reach this point and not attribute it to divine assistance. Folks, this is truly a “beauty for ashes” story. We were two lost kids and God salvaged us. Now, as our family takes shape — kids, grandkids, and lots of laughter — there is simply no other explanation than that the LORD has done it.
Lisa, you’ve blessed me so much! There is no one else I’d rather be with than you. What started small, has become a great thing; two broken lives mended as we clung to Him, worked it out, and struggled forward. Along the way, something else was birthed: joy and laughter. Now hope abounds and goodness on all sides. And in the middle is me and you, sprouting petals as we press skyward. Who could’ve imagined this?
So it’s off to the coast! We’re taking the top down, blasting the music, and smooching on the seashore. I am a blessed man and at the top of that list is my beautiful bride. I love you, Lisa! Happy thirtieth anniversary!
Mike that is beautiful. Bill and I have a similar story. I have to say though, you and Lisa really seem to have mastered the parenting part of life. I should have taken lessons from you. I love you both. Have a blessed time.

Happy anniversary, Mike and Lisa. When Carol and I celebrated our twenty-fifth several years ago, I mentioned it to the university class I was teaching at the time. Their longing — the guys as well as the gals — to someday find that kind of relationship was so deep, so intense, that it blew me away. What you’ve achieved is the template for everyone’s dream, and there is no better recommendation for the contemplated Christian life. Congratulations.
I may be late to the congrats party, but still .. huge congratulations on your anniversary. I hope it was a wonderful day. Bob and I will celebrate 33 years on Jan. 21 and I agree with you that it’s only through God’s grace and blessing that such a thing is possible.
