I’ve known Dave Jacobs since 1980. Dave was the first “real” pastor I ever had — by that I mean someone who knew me personally, took interest in my family and my gifts, and mentored me along the way. After 30+ years in the ministry, Dave now ministers to other pastors. While mega-churches tend to define the religious landscape, small churches (congregations from 50-150 members) comprise more than half of all American churches. Sadly, many of those “small church” pastors get lost in the shuffle, marginalized, often resigned to a quiet, harried, under-appreciated existence. Small Church Pastor is Dave’s outreach to these oft-neglected ministers. Anyway, as a one-time protege and now ex-pastor, Dave asked me if I was up for an interview. I enthusiatically obliged. So if you’re interested in “ministry talk,” and some of my background as a pastor, check out Dave’s interview with me in his latest newsletter. Thanks, Dave!

Good interview, Mike. Loved your advice for pastor goals. Wise.
