Just posted a teaser page for my upcoming digital novella Winterland. The blurb:
Summoned into her dying mother’s coma, Eunice Ames must traverse a surreal, apocalyptic dreamscape in search of three generational spirits who have imprisoned her mother’s soul. The Wizard of Oz meets Dante’s Inferno in this Fantasy novella.
The Winterland Page includes a more detailed synopsis. We’re in the final stages of formatting, which means the book should be downloadable in the next several weeks. Winterland will be available for $1.99 from most e-book and digital outlets.
I love that cover!
Good Cover. Very good cover.
Looking forward to it!
Intriguing. I love the “Dante’s inferno meets Wizard of Oz” line!
Sounds like an intriguing concept–but the artwork seems like it was designed by either an extreme amateur or in MS Paint. Sorry if this offends you! It’s just that I consider graphic design very important as regards to the marketing of a novel; the more professionally the design of a book is, the better of a first impression the novel is more likely to make on a potential customer.
Here’s a link to a fan-made book cover I posted on Flickr–http://flic.kr/p/ayxCyN (or http://www.flickr.com/photos/64378911@N07/6275510262 if the first link doesn’t work)
I don’t claim to be a professional graphic designer, but I do think it’s an improvement over the image you posted. The cover is slightly derivative of Simon and Schuster’s editions of Ernest Hemingway’s novels, though. I’m not sure if that should pose any obstacle in self-publishing Winterland; I don’t if book designs have copyrights.
The cover draws me, the title promises mystery I so love and makes me think of reading times when the fire crackles. The gloss? It makes me think of overused conceptions good for older Christians not for the rest. But I may not be a good measure for it at all.
I will read your novella!
