We don’t talk about sports much around here. Even so, the Decompose staff is a maniacal bunch when it comes to all things athletic. Our seasonal pools have blossomed into a near-unmanageable betting ring. 
Well, almost. At five dollars a pop, my kids and son-in-law Jacob, selected the 16 teams we thought would make it into the NBA playoffs. That’s it. But word got around and now we’ve got 16 bettors participants, including The Nunez Team folks, FUSD painters and assorted in-laws. Were I to win (a likely outcome) we’re now looking at a night on the town. At least, lunch money. But not all like to bet on basketball some also bet on football if you’re on of them read this guide before blindly throwing money on bets.
With the NBA season about midway, I figured I’d post the standings. As Wild Bill used to say, read ’em and weep.
My top 16 teams (8 Eastern Conference, 8 Western Conference) are:
EASTERN: New Jersey, Cleveland, Indiana, Chicago, Detroit, Orlando, Washington, Miami
WESTERN: Utah, Denver, LA Clippers, Lakers, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston
According to the current NBA standings, I’ve got 14 of 16 teams — the best of the bunch. Stack that up next to JDizzle who’s got only 12, the Professor with 12, Sprocket with 11, Nunez with 11, and poor Tricia with only 10. My nearest competition is Matty and a real beafy boy, both at 13. Barring any injuries to Kirilenko or Dwight Howard, or a ferocious run by the Sixers, I’m cruising to another glorious victory. Eat my dust, sports fans!
