Is This the Change We Can Believe In?

It took President Obama only days to keep his promise. You wanted change? You got it. A day after ordering closures of Guantanamo Bay, secret overseas CIA prisons, and banning torture, Obama reversed a ban on federal funds for international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option. (Story HERE.) So while millions continue to fawn over our first black President, he reinstates a policy that will allow for the destruction of God-knows-how-many black babies. Ironic, isn’t it?

Yeah. I’ve heard the “litmus test” arguments. You can’t vote for a candidate based on one issue, they say. Maybe so. But I just can’t shake the conviction that what one believes about the simplest human life frames their entire view of life. Frankly, it’s one reason Obama did not get my vote.

So all you Obama-voting Christians, it’s time to own up. Is this the change we can believe in? And is it inappropriate to suggest that the blood of the unborn are on your hands?

Because we are made in God’s image, respect for human life must be fundamental. Unless we start there, nothing else is going to matter. I didn’t vote for John McCain; I voted against the destruction of human life.

I don’t understand, Glynn. Of the two presidential candidates, McCain was viewed as the Pro-life candidate. He actually has a pretty solid voting record in that regard. What do you mean that you “voted against the destruction of human life” by not voting for McCain?

Mike — I did for for John McCain — but the only reason I voted for him was his pro-life position. In other words, I voted not so much for McCain as against the pro-abortion other guy.

Gotcha, Glynn. I was in the same position, not caring much for McCain, but seeing him as the “lesser of two evils” option. Sad. Maybe next election Conservatives will nominate a candidate I can actually get excited about. Thanks for visiting, Glynn!

    Same here, Mike and Glynn.

startling absence of response from those you actually addressed. Could it be they are choking on the rhetoric that allowed them to vote for Obama and death?

Ah I see you are a “Christian” liberal : )
Just discovered your blog and was amused by the “cool” yet shallow, accoutrements that you sport in the photo.

This is the CHANGE that Obama promised. He didn’t run on a pro-life ticket you must be mistaking him for Bush – who saved so many lives in Iraq and Afghanistan – and before that executing people in Texas.

Hey Arth, Bush “executed” far fewer people in Texas than the executions, er, abortions, Obama’s decree will empower. But in the case of abortion, the victims are innocent. And you’re right, Obama did not run on a pro-life ticket… which is exactly why his “Christian supporters” so baffle me.
