There is much discussion about formulaic book covers. And the Christian publishing industry is not above such criticism. Nevertheless, there’s still some great cover art being developed for Christian novels. Here’s ten of my recent favorites from just released or to soon-to-be released novels. Any you would add to this list? Any that you would subtract?

What? No historical romance?
Uh… I should confess, I DO like the look of many historical romance novels (like Jody Hedlund’s The Preacher’s Bride). The problem for me is there are SO MANY of those types of covers in the Christian Fiction aisle, after a while they just look all the same. Maybe it’s just me…
I really like the covers for Immanuel’s Veins and Beckon. They are both very eye-catching. Veins is very apt for the book (haven’t read Beckon, but am interested). I almost really like The Strange Man, but the bottom image is a little too cheesy IMO.
Beckon and the Pirate Queen are outstanding. The Inheritance of Beauty one is too crowded for me. I feel claustrophobia settling in when I look at it.
I’ve been particularly impressed with the new covers from Abingdon.
I’m actually not a huge fan of CF covers but you’ve picked out some of the better ones. I really love the covers for Erin Healy’s books and The Pirate Queen works as well.
One of my favorites is for *The Curse of Captain LaFoote*, a YA novel written by Eddie Jones and published by Port Yonder Press. Whenever you get a chance, check it out (http://portyonderpress.com).
I also love John Robinson’s book cover. It really fits the story.
Thanks for posting the HH cover, Mike; much appreciated!
And Linda, thanks for the nice comment. I agree, I think SH’s designer nailed it.
I guess it comes down to personal taste. My least favorite were ‘Pirate Queen’ and ‘The Inheritance Beauty’ (not saying they’re BAD ,but …) where as I noticed some others said Pirate Queen was their favorite. Interesting. I happen to be very fond of the cover for one of my books AND THE BEAT GOES ON. (Seriously – not trying to plug my own book, although it’s a good thing to do! I actually was really pleased with the cover. It’s different.)
Good choices Mike though I am a little surprised you didn’t include any from Marcher Lord Press. Jeff has one of the best graphics guys going over that.
Tim, I do like MLP cover art. But in my opinion there were no standout covers this latest round.
My wife’s book is on the verge of being published… check out the cover… http://www.theinscription.com
Love the cover for “Solitary.” When a title and a cover design come together like that, wow.
