You may have caught this when I posted it to Facebook. My apologies. It’s a review of my last novel, The Telling. It made my day. Maybe, my year! Bunny Cates is a reviewer. She won a copy of my novel on Goodreads. Bunny selected it as her favorite read of October, describing the book as a cross between Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Ninth Gate, Constantine, and End of Days. Some combo, huh? Her review of The Telling comes at the 10:58 mark and is a couple minutes long. (Caution: There’s some mild expletives.)
We novelists need all the encouragement we can get. And this review really fired me up. Why? It’s not just because she gushes about the book (although, that helps 🙂 ). It’s because Bunny’s not your typical Christian fiction reader / reviewer. (I think her use of the word sh*t gave that away.) Knowing that The Telling did not scare her off with religious heavy-handedness and that the story held up to other more notable genre authors, was encouraging. Definitely one of my writing highlights of 2012.

Congratulations, Mike. I’m currently reading Subterranea. Great short stories.
